Sims 3 Wall and Floor Textures!

Wall and Floor Textures from the Sims 3. They’re sorted by type rather than expansion, I didn’t realize how to sort them by expansion in-game before I got over half way through. The names aren’t great either because it would have been too much of a hassle to keep their in-game names due to the way you have to rip them.

It’s not all of them, but most of them. Over half-way through 3D Ripper DX stopped ripping all the textures in a shot and I couldn’t fix it.

Here’s an example of them. I just picked randomly from what I had.

You can download the Walls here.

And the Floors here.

This is my first time ripping textures for Hammer so if you have any problems please let me know. Some of the texture stretches may have to be fixed in Hammer, but it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Sims Textures should be done today.

I couldn’t fix my problem with not being able to rip them all, but I’ve gotten most of them.

If everything goes right I should be posting them later today.

Ugh, having problems with the Sims 3 not ripping all the textures in a shot.

Would be done by now if it weren’t for that. Think I might release what I have and deal with the rest later.

Sorry for the lack of updates!

I was planning on ripping models from the Sims 2 and/or 3, but I’ve been ripping textures from the Sims 3 first for use for mapping.

It’s been taking a while but thanks to a friend my stupid ass was informed that VTFEdit has a batch converter, so it should make things go along faster, though it still takes a lot of time to rip the textures as I have to use 3D Ripper DX and that rips… well. All the textures on the screen, meaning I have to sort through them.

I’m almost halfway done so hopefully I’ll finish that within a week or two.

Someone needs to modeling inside sniper van’s cabin, his bedroom and things…

I’ve actually been thinking about doing this. But I’d figure I’d have to do a lot of modeling and texturing just for it.  I don’t think there’d be much pre-made stuff I could use. And I’m not very proficient in making my own models yet though I’m learning.

Plus it’d be very small.

I think I’ll be releasing props from expansions before the default Sims

Sorry if you were looking forward to some default props.

But my ‘work’ computer doesn’t have a lot of hard drive space, so it’s going to be easiest for me get things from expansions, uninstall them to free up space, then move to the next expansion.

I don’t know if I’ll do every expansion I’d like to pull models from before I start doing just the default Sims 2, but I really want some dang harddrive space back on my computer.

Releasing models

I’ve been working on ports of Sims 2 models and had planned to release some fairly soon..

But when I said this, I hadn’t figured out applying two textures to one model yet that it uses at the same time. I’ve since gotten help with this, and I want to try to just release models by room because I think that’ll be easier and more organized.

I’ll probably eventually get around to making a tutorial for it as soon as I’m a bit better at it myself.

Crappy SFM Render Tutorial

unlessitsafarm:

itscalledazoo:

smexy-medic:

I saw that some people are having a few issues with rendering in Source Filmmaker (mostly with the grainy shadows) so I thought I would make this half-assed made tutorial for it. (Note that this is to be used by people who have at least some experience with SFM.)

image
First, get your scene set up with models and everything, then under the Timeline tab go into Motion Editor (F3)

image
Right click on the scene itself in the viewport and go to Render Settings…

image
This dialogue box should pop up. Use these settings (or tinker around with it as you wish) for better renders, and click okay when you are finished. But there’s also more you can do.

image
In the Animation Set Editor, right click on an empty space and select Create Animation Set(s) for Existing Element(s).

image
Another dialogue box should pop up. Select the camera you want (the one you are using for the poster render) and click ok.

image
Once that is done, select the camera in the Animation Set Editor and then under the L R slider there should be some more sliders to mess around with. I suggest at least bare minimum dragging the SSAOStrength slider all the way down, and possibly the other ones with SSAO at the beginning down as well.

image
You can already tell how much a difference it makes here.
Once you’re finished just add some lighting and whatever else you want and you’re done!

image

I wanna mention though that sometimes the grainy shadows won’t disappear until you render. In my latest piece (With Demoman and Scout) I was having grainy shadows because the room I used is pitch black and I had to create all my own lighting. So it caused me to have grainy shadows I don’t normally have. I played with the SSAO and saw no change in my viewport, but rendered just to see what would happen and it worked.

I highly reccomend always rendering something to see how it looks a few times as you’re posing just to see how it looks. It’ll help you see your mistakes easier and generally show you how the piece is turning out.

EDIT: Sorry for the repost! Missing E never reblogs as text and I forgot.

Ugh…meant to reblog that here.

Source film maker tutorial by valve

Check out the introduction clip for it.

poor medic.

I’ve gotten questions in the past about posing. This sums up pretty much everything if you’re just making posters. I don’t even always use a rig, rather than manipulate all the bones.

But even I learned a few things from this video, so I’d give it a watch anyway.
